Biography: Kisha Jarrett has a desire to increase student achievement and to show students they are capable of becoming high achievers regardless of their economic or academic background. As a high school student, Jarrett became a STEM achiever in 1994 while participating in SECME. She was then asked to return to Suncoast High only one year after graduation in order to coordinate the SECME Club. Since 1999, Jarrett served as a SECME coordinator at three schools. Her STEM accolades include six years of high school and elementary District Coordinator of the Year Awards. She was also awarded SECME National Teacher of the Year in 2003 & 2008. Since 2003, she has contributed to 14 summer institute programs in various capacities. In 2013, she was awarded the SECME National Shaik Jeelani Selfless Service Award for her dedication in STEM education. Jarrett worked for the FLDOE in the capacity of Science Specialist, School Improvement Specialist, and Regional Assistant Director. Currently she is a Senior Administrator in Orange County Public School, where she continues to impact the lives of students and teachers through school improvement. Jarrett?s recent accomplishment includes founding K. Jarrett & Associates Education Consulting Company and writing curriculum for the Flying Classroom-Captain Barrington Irving, giving students a look into the world around us through STEM education. Her favorite quote comes from Rita Pearson, "Kids don't learn from people that they don't like."
