2019 SECME Summer Institute

hosted by

University of Florida, Gainsville FL

June 23-28, 2019

The SECME Summer Institute Professional Development Experience...

...brings together STEM educators and education leadership for learning, collaboration, and dialog. Participants take advantage of a wide range of interest specific elective professional development module options, including hands-on STEM content modules in engineering, physical and life sciences. The leadership strand provides strategies and best-practice in school leadership, STEM achievement, equity, and post-secondary attainment. Opportunities are provided to network and dialog with STEM Diversity Summit participants and earn professional development credits.

The Value of the SECME National Network. One of the greatest benefits of attending a SECME Summer Institute comes from the network and camaraderie you will build in and outside of the educational sessions. Our 2019 participants will join K-12, post-secondary, industry and government participants from other regions and states, in venues designed to promote collaboration and networking. You’ll learn and share strategies for overcoming shared obstacles; you’ll explore research-based solutions and models for improving student outcomes, and you’ll leave having expanded your personal and professional network to enhance your professional practice and resources.

Our nationally acclaimed SECME Annual Summer Institute is meant to improve your ability to launch your students into the STEM workforce pipeline. We believe K-12 educators are better equipped to do this if you have the experience of connecting and exchanging ideas with other professionals along the STEM pipeline – university representatives, STEM industry and government partners. All professional development participants will be included in Summit events to contribute and share strategies for supporting student achievement and access to STEM majors and careers.
